The Hunt for the 2010 United States Aduld Soccer Association Amateur National Title

Under the hot sun in Pennsylvania, Boston Olympiakos will try to win its 2nd USASA National soccer title in the last three years in one of the most excruciating and painful soccer competitions on earth.

Boston Olympiakos was founded in 1990, by Nick Pseudoikonomou, who was born and  raised in Karya Elasonas, Greece. The team is based in Boston Massachusetts. In just two decades, the team has won 12 championships and 25 cups, including five regional titles and 1 national title. It was 2001 when the team started to knock on the Champions doors, quickly earned respect and recognition from the biggest soccer power houses in United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA). The same year, Boston Olympiakos won its first Regional title ever. In 2003 and 2005 the team repeated in the same fashion.

In 1953 a Portuguese team from Massachusetts called Ponta Delgada from Fall River was the only Massachusetts team to win the USASA title. Five players from that team moved on to the National Team of USA and won against England in the 1954 world cup.

In 2007, 44 years later, Boston Olympiakos accomplished what no other team from Massachusetts has accomplished since 1953. The team became the USASA Champion by defeating the Chicago Eagles 2-0.

"It was an amazing year" Nick Pseudoikonomou said and he continued. "We were ready mentally and physically, we knew if we minimized mistakes during the game we would win it all. The players worked so hard. They knew they represented Boston, Massachusetts, and Olympiakos of Greece. They were hungry to win. I am still very proud of them."

Boston Olympiakos is revisiting the championship and once again has a difficult task to get through, a task that has earned the team a spot at the National finals. The game will kick off on Friday July 29, 2010, at 10:00am Eastern American Time. Boston Olympiakos will face one of the hottest and most talented teams in USASA (United States Adult soccer Association) the Olympics Club from California. The other semifinal will take place at 12:00pm the same day between Barracudas of Texas and the Carpathian Kickers of Michigan.  With only one day rest the two winners will compete against each other for the USASA  final on Sunday.
